Many public organisations will be affected by this
legislation. It extends the scope of the Data Protection Act and entitles members of the public to access
non-personal information relating to decisions and services affecting
them. It is intended to make such decisions transparent and public
bodies more accountable.
The Act, passed in November 2000, is being
introduced over a 5 year period with the first major stages due in
January 2002. Many authorities need to plan now. We offer
supporting services and software packages.
